Shabby Journal Cover Creative Embellishments

Hello all, tis the summer months here in the mid west and the times seems to just fly, seeing the summer is so short we try and enjoy as much outside time as possible. I have worked a ton and have tried to enjoy life and the gardens more this year. Today I am sharing an altered journal cover I did for a friend. She has just started out with gardening and the kids and I have shared some plants with her. And what better to keep track of the gardening adventures than with a journal. It’s all on one spot.

I made a short video for you all.

I started out with the base of the journal cover, After prepping the cover, I added a thick layer of pastes through the distress checkered stencil. I actually worked outside on this day, it was finally some beautiful weather. I set the book aside in the sun to get the crackle effect of the paste to really take hold.

I try and figure out the basic look of the cover, I lay out my chipboard, flowers and the other embellishments to get the general look down. I decided to use the Scroll set 4 on this particular piece.

I layer various sprays and paints on the scroll set 4 and on the Delicate Ivy. I after adhering all the pieces on to the cover, I did a fair number of blending to get the right look to the project.

I hope my friend enjoys all the satisfaction fo her new gardening adventures.

Thank you for stopping by today.
