First Class Shadow Box

I am back today to share an altered shadow box project made with the 7 Dots Studio collection Lost and Found Collection. I love anything I can alter or add to a project. I had these old bullet casings that I have found around.  A couple of the we found while in Norway, one from my grandfathers military burial service, and some my boy found at the neighbors.  But I have been wanting to use them and thought of this project.

I started with covering the box with papers from the collection. Once the paper was adhered to the back I did some background texture with the geometry stencil and texture paste.

After framing the shadowbox itself was finished, I began to buildup the center portion with papers, tags from the collection and fabric elements, before adding the bullet casings.

Once the casings where glued down I wanted to make it look more aged, like an old veterans certificate or award of honor. I added some fine crackle glaze over portions of the piece.

To top of the piece was a medallion relic I made to look old and then just to find the right title. And when I came across the “First Class” word sticker I thought how perfect for this piece.

So here is a video of the creative process. Enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by today.
