Welcome back, I know I have been very silent on social media, but with my real job, I have been very busy with extra shifts, long hours and home schooling the kiddos. But I had a few days off and tried to created. I needed some inspiration so I got out some pictures from our getaway before school started. Adam and I took the kids up to the north shore for a long weekend. We rented a house so we could socially distance and just isolate ourselves from others. We were walking distance to the light house in the harbour and walked a ton. We had the most pleasant weather and I couldn’t have asked for better family time……..if we haven’t had enough of that yet. 😉
Here is a short video of the creative process. This layout came together pretty fast. I took over 3000 photos this getaway. There were so many to choose from. But we walked down to the harbour every day to just have some fun.
I started on the background with some stamping, contrasting colours. Starting with the Distress Burlap Stamp with some distress oxides. I switched up to a brown and added the Distress Crackle Stamp sporadically about the page.
Using the Fishnet Stencil, I used some bold white thick paint. I don’t mind that it looks wonky and messy, I usually cover up most of the background anyways. I put enough on to hopefully pop out of the edges of the focal point. Sometimes I really undershoot it.
I wanted to get the feel of the sail boats, buoys and the nautical theme of things. I used various chipboard from a few different collections. I filled in the background with layers of papers and the Word Anchor, Nautical 6 Piece and the Nautical Badge Set. I used a brown spray with had shimmers of blue on the pieces.
Using the Travel Word Set 1, I started with the same technique as the other chipboard, but it all blending to much into the background. So I added heat embossing over the spray to help it pop off the page and to match it with the contrasting browns. Then I added a few flowers clusters and popped a little Sail Away Flair in each cluster. A little dry brushing to soften the look of the over all page.
I hope you enjoy the page, I hope to have some more creative time coming up but we will take it day by day. Thank you for your continued support.
