Flying Unicorn OTP

What a fun OTP. This months OTP from Flying Unicorn was a small wooden birdhouse. These have been all the craze lately, So I wanted to do something really different. I just love this OTP. This is going to be a photo heavy post today. Lots of techniques used, some failures, but in the end, all a success.

So here is my creative process, I tried some techniques from Finnabairs most recent Wanderlust class. Let’s just say I need some practice. They did not turn out how I expected them to.

I knew right away that I was going to use the relic, it worked perfectly around the hole.

I cut pieces of paper an decoupaged then in a patchwork fashion all around the house. I them used some soft gel to stencil a patterned on and quickly added some mini stones. That medium drys fast, so some sides have then and some sides don’t.

I added layers of ribbon on the base for texture and detention, I used matte medium to adhere.

This is one way to use up some stash.

Being a three dimnsional, I felt all sides needed some love.

I love these projects but do they trash my desk.

So now some fun. I was trying to use some techniques from the Wanderlust class. Well…….

Maybe I should have stuck with it to see the end result………

Needless to say,  leaving some of background the natural color was not working for me. I couldn’t get it to look right. I used sprays and still couldn’t  get it to work the way I wanted.

So enough frustration, paint the whole darn thing black.

Painting by the pond doesn’t get any better..

So layer upon layer then paint was applied…….

So the Medallion on and ready to dry.
