Steampunk Man
Lots of pictures today, but I am showcasing my steampunk man. This guy is huge and heavy. I attempted to go victorian steampunk style with this guy.
I will say this. After watching Milagros and Sherry from Relics and Artifacts, I have a new profound appreciation to anyone that can use Apoxie Sculpt and yet do it with limited time, on camera and not swear and want to walk away from the project. Lets just say, there is a huge learning curve with it.
I did make the cloak based “loosely” on these examples. Like I said, if I could have walked away from this project when I was manipulating the clay, I would have. But It was fun, I made it in stages over a couple of days so by the third day, I was feeling more comfortable. (Picture source: Internet Google)
I love the rust effect that Andy Skinner does using the DecoArt Fluid Acrylics and it goes so well with his Industrial Elements from Tando Creative.
I wanted to incorporate CCB “Movember” Challenge, the gears and a wind up crank worked perfect. For clarification: Movember here where I live is where none of the men shave their facial hair the whole month of November, just incase you wanted to know.
I did a substantial number of coats of paint on this project between all of the rust effect and a lot of dirty washes, with one of my favorite combos now of Paynes Grey and Quinacridone Gold.
I made the cane with a couple of strays put together and used more Apoxie Sculpt for the handle. I also used Andy’s Industrial stamp to add texture to the handle.
I hope you enjoy this project! It was very fun even though it started with some frustration. I love the end result. Thank you for stopping.
