Hello everyone, I would like to share with you all a different project. An altered birdhouse, I love getting away from the normal projects I make from time to time and make something more three dimensional. And Nicolle has these awesome hexagon shingle panels in the store and I have just wanted to dig in and play with them.
Here it is, using natural items the kids and I have found in the yard, bark and moss, along with some flowers and chipboard.
I made a short video of how this came together with the background work with the stencils and sprays to the small composition within the house itself.
Using the mood board as my inspiration I started with a base of white paint, I used light paste and the distress patterned stencil to give a little texture on the sides of the house and the inside panel. After drying I did some blending with spray Mission Bells Brown and Edelweiss Moss Green and let it dry before adding stamping with the Distress Crackle stamp and the Distress Harlequin Stamp.
After stamping I began to work on the inside focal points, I did a fair number of heat embossing on this project, I think it adds more texture with the layers of sand paste and sprays. Using various natural colours based off the Lindy’s mood board, I head embossed the fern foliage and the Mini Ornate Frames for the mini focal points. Full supply list with links can be found below.
Here is one more view of the project, you can see the texture on the shingles.
I hope you enjoyed, Thank you for stopping by today.
